discussion reflection

i like how our discussions are filled with passion. Its entertaining and fun to be involved. I kind of didn't really see so much diversity in our discussions but it was still fun. I think another subject will get people more riled up and involved enough to want to speak out during the discussions.

Wordle Project

figured out how to post it on here!(:
American: This means to me that we all share the same goal pursuit of happiness and that we love this country because we have rights here that don't exist in other countries and we have people of all backgrounds and races living here united.
Beliefs: This country is full of different beliefs and we should all coexist.
Biomedical: This just interested me and i want to learn more about what he wants to accomplish in this field.
Bipartisan: I agree with Obama that both sides need to cooperate to get things accomplished.
Change: I feel with the change Obama promised it'll bring a better future with biotechnology's and education advancements but the whole train through America thing.. not getting that.
Competition: Sending our companies overseas gives us alot of competition with foreign nations which is bad on our part and we should work on helping America not become dependent.
Cooperation: For things to get done, change to come, people need to cooperate.

Debates: I chose it because I learn from and think debates are interesting and they bring out different sides of people.
Democracy: Its what our country stands for and what we should always appreciate about our country.
Family: We should all care for each other, as Americans, like a family.
Democrats: Not as conservative as republicans and more on the liberal side and i agree with alot of things they say.
Dream: The US gives citizens a right to dream and actually make something out of those dreams.
Economy: While our economy might be in a bad state right now, at least we're out of the recession.
Education: I'm glad he wants to better the education system as a daughter of a teacher i always hear complaints about the no child left behind plan not giving teachers time to teach students other subjects etc. etc.
Energy: clean energy might help lower our bills with cheaper but more efficient types of energy.
Frustrations: Many people have frustrations about president Obama with all the drastic changes hes done but i feel hes the first president who's actually tried to do something and if we expand to the idea it help "fix" our country.
Future: We as a people have to make the future a better place for our future generations to live in with tolerance for others.
Goals: The goals Obama set are alot but maybe a couple he could actually accomplish. Its the quantity that might prevent that.
Innovation: Advances for the future. New age of innovation hopefully.
Jobs: A big controversy surrounding the health care reform is losing jobs and looking from the point of view as a future med student I'm not looking forward to that.
Immigration: A huge topic of controversy that needs to get discussed and make some progress towards a resolution.
Leadership: Right now we need strong leadership to get us through tragedy.
Nation: I believe this nation should stand united and it does, when we go through tragedies.
Naysayers: I just thought this was funny.
Opportunities: This country is full of opportunities others don't have and i feel we should all be grateful and take advantage of them instead of letting them pass us by.
Parties: How we get our ideas heard with other groups of people who have the same ideals as us.
Passion: the passion shouldn't be toned down that's how we all get our ideas across and to show how we feel about certain things.
Paycheck: Something everyone wants to see get higher not lower.
Progress: A huge thing happening in our country as we speak as we become well informed we all progress on our thoughts and actions on a personal level as well as a whole.
Prosperous: Is what our country could be if we stop sending all our companies overseas.
Public: The government needs to be more public about certain things so that everyone is informed. Since we the people have such a huge part in this nation.
Rancor: I think this is something we should have very little of, long lasting resentment.
Recession: A really big reason why alot of people don't agree with the spending that Obama doing.
Reform: people are scared of change but this is happening and we all need to either do something about it by voicing our opinions and working together or just sit by and let it happen.
Republicans: Conservative with their own outlook on things some with which i agree with and some I don't.
Research: Looking into things helps us learn and have evidence to back up our opinion.
Revolutions: This word used sparks fire in peoples hearts, such great change to be a revolution.
Technology: This promised advancements in technologies in the environmental areas excites me and makes me want to see this nation become more "Eco-friendly"
Views: we all have different views which makes life interesting.

Damn it

Today I found out they put my dog to sleep. As I'm writing this I can't stop sobbing. I had deluded myself into thinking I, for some reason, wouldn't be around that she'd live way longer than even I would. I refused to acknowledge the fact that she'd die in my lifetime. I've had that dog since I was 4, she was the sweetest dog in the world. Everyone who'd first see her would be intimidated because she was a pit bull but as soon as they got close to her shed go up to them and just want them to pet her, she'd stop people from moving by leaning on their legs so they'd have to pet her. My parents had told me they were going to put her to sleep last week but they hadn't set a date and i didn't think they would go through with it since she was like their baby. It wouldn't have been so bad if only i had actually known! I would've gotten to say goodbye or see her one last time. Instead I came home after work, happy as can be with my chicken pot pie, and while i was watching TV my sister comes downstairs crying and tells me that Gena's gone, that they put her to sleep. I wish they would have at least told me. I knew she was hurting real bad and she couldn't even get up anymore, and it killed me but i was being selfish and i couldn't stand the thought of her not being there. I wish I could say shes in a better place but i don't know that. I'm really really glad shes out of pain though.

Life on other planets?

"Kepler space telescope spots five Earth-sized planets in our galaxy."  John Zarrella, CNN. February 2, 2011

Nasa's Kepler telescope has found other planets in the Milkyway galaxy orbiting their suns in a "habitable zone" just like the earth. Scientists wonder if this extraterrestrial stories aren't just science fiction but could actually be true. Is there life out there, from single celled organisms to actual sentient beings?
