Man sucked up by tornado and spit out.

"Operation was designed to kill bin Laden, source says"
CNN wire staff. CNN.com. 2 May 2011.

The mastermind behind the attack on the twin towers, which started this war we've been in for the past 10 years, is finally dead. In an attack meant to kill him not take him alive during a firefight osama was shot in the head. Now a problem is about wether or not there'd be a terrorist attack for revenge. I dont think this will change anything, if it ended the war and the troops would come home then that'd be great but i doubt that'd be the case.

classroom discussion reflection.

This last discussion on immigration was more intense than the previous. I heard alot of good rebuttals and opinions from some students who rarely talk, as well as the ones who always do. People were more opinionated this time and even though we could have broadened the topics relating to it all in all i think we had a good discussion.

"Dont let ignorant people vote"
By LZ Granderson, CNN Contributor

In this article they want to make the voting process not just something anyone can do. I agree many people know nothing about politics and whats going on yet they vote for who they think everyone in their party is voting for.  This leads to unwanted changes and it affects us greatly. One great idea is making the naturalization test a requirement for the voting process.

He replies to these by saying the military mission was just to prevent a "humanitarian crisis". Which meant to prevent the killings of civilians by Gadhafis army as well as the underlying reason, to remove gadhafi from power in libya.

cnn wire staff. March 18, 2011.

The radiation levels have gone up to 150 millisieverts for outdoor workers when the ok amount is 50 and they usually keep workers in under 5 millisieverts of radiation. Officials are scared it will increase and they're doing all they can to protect their workers health. Good news though! is that the since friday the situation with the overheating nuclear reactors hasnt worsened.

Discussion reflection

I gained a lot of insight with all the looking into education we did. It made me gain a persepctive into the educational world and I even got my moms perspective on the reforms suggested. I had thought merit pay was a good idea till I learned more about how some teachers find ways to cheat. Then that idea was out the window. I think parent involvment is needed at some level at least. The actual discussion could've been better I think we all didn't really involve ourselves too much as a group. I think next time we can do better.

i like how our discussions are filled with passion. Its entertaining and fun to be involved. I kind of didn't really see so much diversity in our discussions but it was still fun. I think another subject will get people more riled up and involved enough to want to speak out during the discussions.

Beliefs: This country is full of different beliefs and we should all coexist.
Biomedical: This just interested me and i want to learn more about what he wants to accomplish in this field.
Bipartisan: I agree with Obama that both sides need to cooperate to get things accomplished.
Change: I feel with the change Obama promised it'll bring a better future with biotechnology's and education advancements but the whole train through America thing.. not getting that.
Competition: Sending our companies overseas gives us alot of competition with foreign nations which is bad on our part and we should work on helping America not become dependent.
Cooperation: For things to get done, change to come, people need to cooperate.

Debates: I chose it because I learn from and think debates are interesting and they bring out different sides of people.
Democracy: Its what our country stands for and what we should always appreciate about our country.
Family: We should all care for each other, as Americans, like a family.
Democrats: Not as conservative as republicans and more on the liberal side and i agree with alot of things they say.
Dream: The US gives citizens a right to dream and actually make something out of those dreams.
Economy: While our economy might be in a bad state right now, at least we're out of the recession.

Energy: clean energy might help lower our bills with cheaper but more efficient types of energy.
Frustrations: Many people have frustrations about president Obama with all the drastic changes hes done but i feel hes the first president who's actually tried to do something and if we expand to the idea it help "fix" our country.
Future: We as a people have to make the future a better place for our future generations to live in with tolerance for others.
Goals: The goals Obama set are alot but maybe a couple he could actually accomplish. Its the quantity that might prevent that.
Innovation: Advances for the future. New age of innovation hopefully.

Immigration: A huge topic of controversy that needs to get discussed and make some progress towards a resolution.
Leadership: Right now we need strong leadership to get us through tragedy.
Nation: I believe this nation should stand united and it does, when we go through tragedies.
Naysayers: I just thought this was funny.
Opportunities: This country is full of opportunities others don't have and i feel we should all be grateful and take advantage of them instead of letting them pass us by.
Parties: How we get our ideas heard with other groups of people who have the same ideals as us.
Passion: the passion shouldn't be toned down that's how we all get our ideas across and to show how we feel about certain things.
Paycheck: Something everyone wants to see get higher not lower.
Progress: A huge thing happening in our country as we speak as we become well informed we all progress on our thoughts and actions on a personal level as well as a whole.
Prosperous: Is what our country could be if we stop sending all our companies overseas.
Public: The government needs to be more public about certain things so that everyone is informed. Since we the people have such a huge part in this nation.
Rancor: I think this is something we should have very little of, long lasting resentment.
Recession: A really big reason why alot of people don't agree with the spending that Obama doing.
Reform: people are scared of change but this is happening and we all need to either do something about it by voicing our opinions and working together or just sit by and let it happen.
Republicans: Conservative with their own outlook on things some with which i agree with and some I don't.
Research: Looking into things helps us learn and have evidence to back up our opinion.

Damn it

Today I found out they put my dog to sleep. As I'm writing this I can't stop sobbing. I had deluded myself into thinking I, for some reason, wouldn't be around that she'd live way longer than even I would. I refused to acknowledge the fact that she'd die in my lifetime. I've had that dog since I was 4, she was the sweetest dog in the world. Everyone who'd first see her would be intimidated because she was a pit bull but as soon as they got close to her shed go up to them and just want them to pet her, she'd stop people from moving by leaning on their legs so they'd have to pet her. My parents had told me they were going to put her to sleep last week but they hadn't set a date and i didn't think they would go through with it since she was like their baby. It wouldn't have been so bad if only i had actually known! I would've gotten to say goodbye or see her one last time. Instead I came home after work, happy as can be with my chicken pot pie, and while i was watching TV my sister comes downstairs crying and tells me that Gena's gone, that they put her to sleep. I wish they would have at least told me. I knew she was hurting real bad and she couldn't even get up anymore, and it killed me but i was being selfish and i couldn't stand the thought of her not being there. I wish I could say shes in a better place but i don't know that. I'm really really glad shes out of pain though.

reflection on class discussion

I actually really enjoyed the class discussion. It got everyone involved and interested in the topic. I liked how everyone would get riled up and different opinions would be said then someone would have a rebuttal. We'd sometimes get off topic, and if we had more time or could, we'd be able to expand to other political topics. All in all it was fun and I really want to do it again soon.

are we ready for change?

Are We Ready For Change?

"State of the Union: Full speech" The Washington Post. January 25, 2011

President Obama, in my opinion, has some very good ideas for the future of the US. Do I think this country will respond well and progress? I don't think so. This country hasn't previously shown evidence of being too open to new ideas. We the people expect change and action ASAP and selfishly not considering the fact that our country was in turmoil when Obama was first inaugurated into office, and that he did what he thought best for the country. Now with these new ideas Obama has, I'm sure there's bound to be much controversy ahead. All we can hope for is that everyone has an open mind, and that our voice is heard.
